Father Frost has been trekking through Lapland and has made it to the great northern forests of Russia, but toting his sack of gifts is not easy. This woodcarving captures him sitting on a log in the forest, taking a much-deserved breather. I like the way his outfit blends with the forest colors, and his bag is decorated with a fir bough and mountain ash berries. In his right hand he holds a seedling he's pulled from the forest floor to bring to some family as a small Christmas tree. Now, he's just about to move on....
This carving stands (or shall we say "sits") 8" tall, and is about 4.5" wide. Artist Sveta Nakonechnaya, working in Sergiev Posad, Russia, signs her beautiful work on the bottom. Collect all of her carved Father Frost figurines!
