A trinity of angels reside in heavenly clouds on the hand painted enamel pendant. The sterling silver frame extends a full 2".
Russian enameling dates back to the late 1100's, where colored enamels were considered to be the most expensive and beautiful of items. Rostov enamels begin with a copper plate covered with white enamel powder. Then successive layers of enamel pigments are applied and fired in a kiln to "paint" the piece.
